Ray invited us to again attend his Old Farts Week (my name, not his) at the City of Rocks. I met Brian in Boise and we drove down to The City together. When we arrived, we set up and socialized. Our tent is out of sight on the right.

The next morning dawned clear at our group camp.

Some of our group had more deluxe accommodations.

Last year, I had spoken with climbing legend Jim Donini about tying in with him. We didn't make it happen, so this year I was determined and Jim agreed. Here is where he took us a for our "warm up" (I hadn't really done any rock climbing since we were here last year). The left edge of the tallest pinnacle is called 'Skyline' (5.8)

Jim setting the clips.

Brian giving it a go while I belay.

Trailhead

Zoomed in a bit.

Mark belaying while I climb. Trailhead

Yeah, it's steep.

Trailhead

Over the hardest part.

Trailhead

Me and Jim.

Did I mention he's about to turn 75?

Trailhead

Tenaya, Mark's daughter, having a go.

Trailhead

Well, that must have been too easy. On to something more challenging. Jim setting the clips again.

Note that he has yet to put anything in...... Trailhead
I think this is Ray. Trailhead

Well, climbers get hungry, don'tcha know!

Evening socializing with Brian and Jim. Trailhead
Me with our hosts for the week, Ray and Dorita. Trailhead
Another morning with Jim. Today we started right with a 5.10 overhang. Brian cleaned it, but it spat me off. Trailhead
Brian on something more my speed. I think this one is 5.7. Trailhead
Vica, our Hungarian friend, on the last route we did (except I only belayed this one). Brian belaying. Trailhead

Up high.

Trailhead

Back at camp ready to do more socializing. Jim, on the left, is 78. Fred, on the right, has been on K2. Another old fart.

Trailhead

Some kids wanted to climb the buttress next to camp. Here, Brian feeds them beer while one of them belays Tom McLeod.

Trailhead

Last evening in camp. Vica goes after the impossible-looking wall at the back of the alcove.

Once again, a really fun weekend. Thanks Ray (on the right) for all your hard work!
