Sunny and deep snow on our way to Crystal Lake.

Day off. Sunshine. Better get out.

We hit the trail right at noon. The trail had been broken, making for easier travel.

We got up the hill pretty quickly, and were soon out of the trees and into the sun. Yay!

...and the views.

Left to right:

The trailbreakers apparently ran out of time (or legs). It had only taken about 45 minutes to get to this point.

Trail breaking, anyone? Oh, that would be me. No worries- it's not that much farther....

Trailhead
In places the snow was almost to my knees. Lots of work. Ruby was doing her kangaroo hops to keep her chin up. Trailhead

When we got to the saddle, more views!

This is Nick Peak.

And over here, the obvious Gunsight Notch sits above Middle Fork Lake.

And that rock tower over there sits right above Crystal.

Trailhead

There's that same rock tower. Looks like time for hockey!

From the end of the broken trail to here was another full hour. And now I was tired.

Trailhead

An attempt at a group photo. She always has her own agenda.

After just a few minutes I realized we were losing our sunshine. Time to go.

Trailhead
More uphill. And now in the shade. Trailhead

The last little bit of climb, then all downhill to the car. Careful downhill.

And this shows part of the long ridge we did this summer: That's Snowslide just off screen to the left, then Peak 8367, and Golden Lake Peak on the right.
