I was in Boise for a doctor visit, and it looked like a beautiful day. The Doc said I'm in good health, so might as well go check out Big Dan's Lame Peaks. I started with Kodiak Peak. I wasn't exactly sure where to park or where to begin the climb. I couldn't see any use trail. So I just hopped over the barrier and walked down into the brush, where I found lots and lots of water.

So after some more wandering, I finally figured out how to get across the creek. Going up the hill was easy enough. But I wasn't carrying a pack, GPS, or camera. Just a windbreaker and my phone. So here's the view. |

Then it was back across town, through the St. Lukes construction zone, and up Bogus Basin Road. I drove up Bogus and parked at the trailhead for Sweet Connie. I had ridden this trail a couple times so knew where to park and something of the terrain. Pretty area. Nice, easy tread. |

There's the objective, on the far right. | ![]() |
More nice trail. It has been moved and improved since I last rode it, plus there are now weveral (well-marked) connectors. |

On top of the ridge, I found an old road of sorts. Pretty darn lumpy, or perhaps the right term is hummocks. Hard to walk on. |

Great views, including the top of Bogus. |

This is looking back toward Boise and where I came from. I cruised back to the car, thinking about something to eat. |

From the truck, this is looking at Peak 3979. I parked about where the road disappears from view and pretty much ran up the ridge. Short, but steep. And then it was back home, tired. |
