Tuesday Dave is back!

There is still a lot of snow up high, so we opted for a hike that follows a road. Except we didn't know the road had been 'rehabilitated'. Nonetheless, there wasn't much deadfall to overcome.

It's Spring!

The roads didn't follow the maps. But it still was pretty easy navigating.

The top of the ridge had us going in and out of an old burn. Burn = deadfall. Trailhead

We chased the bare spots, although the snow was overall pretty firm.

Trailhead

The last little bit was continuous snow.

Summit.
Such a nice day. So good to have Dave back.

Trailhead

Fun stuff to look at from the summit. This is the old Gold Fork Rock lookout.

Way off to the south, Rice Peak lookout. Trailhead

If this looks different, it is. Time for a loop!

Trailhead

Our loop followed some ancient trail tread, then went through an area that had contour ditches.
And finally, there's the truck right down there.

Let the summer hiking begin!
