I've visited Anderson Lake several times over the last 40+ years, but had never succumbed to the allure of the two satellite lakes that sit in little alcoves above. So today, in glorious fall color, was the day.

It was pretty calm when we got to Boulder Lake.

Then we climbed up to the saddle of the Anderson Lake trail. Our plan was to do a fairly flat traverse. Hmmmm.....

The traverse provided some fun scrambling and excellent views. That's Anderson Lake down there.

And there's our first satellite lake. We explored a bit, but didn't bother getting out the fishing gear.

As I wandered across the beautiful meadow adjacent to the lake, in this light, in this place, in this amazing silence, I whispered to Dave, "I feel like I'm in church." He smiled at me and replied, "I think you are."

Then we hiked over to the second satellite. This traverse proved a bit trickier and required some careful downclimbing. Again, no fishing.

But we did have a really pleasant lunch break.

Then it was time to head down to Anderson.

Finally, fish.

Lots of fish.

Pretty little brookies.

And those are normal-size hands.

Then we worked our way around past the outlet. We had this view a couple years ago in the snow.

You can see the basin holding the first satelite below the summit of Boulder Mountain.

Although it was a beautiful day and not yet too late, we opted to end it and head home.
