Home

We visit a mess of lakes and catch a few fish.

As we were heading up the hill through the brush I gazed across at Beaverdam and realized it was our fifth day of hiking out of seven.

Wildflower season is in full swing. It's a little early up here above 7000', but still enjoyable. The way things are going with this fishing and relaxing stuff, I'm going to have to start identifying plants (sound of my wife cheering in the background).

Trailhead

Cly #1.

Pretty little hanging lake. We didn't fish here, but reports are that there are fish in it. Today, just cool cloud reflections.

Trailhead

We'll be up there, but it takes a couple hours.

Trailhead

Cly #2. Fish on.

And more cool reflections. I love the filtered reflections over the underwater rock.

We ran into a couple at the apex of Cly 3 and Cly 4, our only people sighting during our hike. After lazing/picnicking/fishing at "Tom's Corner" on Cly #4, it was time to do some photos and then head for Tsum.

Trailhead

Cly #5 with The Beast. Pretty shallow. No fish here.

Trailhead

Tsum Peak with Tsum Lake barely visible. If you visit the link for the peak, you'll find a shot of the lake looking down from the summit.

From up here, the gin-clear water makes the lake look shallow. But it's really very, very deep.

A taller perspective, this time with Ruby. Trailhead
Looking toward the outlet. Now you can tell there is some depth to it. Trailhead

Yes, there are fish.

After wondering why we were doing all this sitting around today instead of bagging peaks, Ruby was enthralled by that wiggly thing. Smells like cat food.

Trailhead

Too bad the scenery wasn't better.

Mt. Horrendous on the left, The Spear on the right.

Trailhead

Yeah, it's pretty horrendous. Even more horrendous to get to it.

Trailhead

See Dave's excellent photos
