Cly 1 and Peak 65

A short hike on Medicare day.

I was given a new fishing rig for my birthday, so we needed to go give it a try. But in all this smoke, we didn't want to work too hard or too long. Cly Lake #1 fit the bill. Even so, we were hoping that the smoke might be thinner up high. No go; here's the view of Beaverdam from the trailhead. Well, it should be a view of Beaverdam.

From a few hundred feet up the ridge, this is looking at Teardrop on the left and Burnside on the right.

Per usual, it was a good day for Ruby pictures.

If you look closely, Cly 1 is visible between the two characters here.

And then it was time for some fishin'.

I got a quick lead on Dave with two beautiful brookies. Then we sat and relaxed with a lunch with birthday beers and red velvet birthday cupcakes.

After lunch, Dave resumed his fishin' dominance. Final tally was me 4, Dave 8.

Because it was my birthday, we decided we should throw in a peak to complete the day. Actually, any excuse will do.

So up the ridge we went. Fall colors enhanced by a thick smoke filter.

Dave working his way up the ridge.

We stayed far apart on this climb due to a mutual case of fruity flatulence. I accused Dave of getting the cupcakes from the senior section of the grocery store, so being made with bran?

Something close to our summit.

Admiring the imaginary view. The summit block is right behind him. Trailhead

On top of the block.

This is a hike except for the one move to the top. Which has a bomber handhold and a pretty good foothold to gain the 'au cheval' summit.

Ruby looking back down to Cly 1, with Flying Fish visible (sort of) right behind it.

And if you know where to look, you can sort of see Lick Creek Road.
