NOAA wasn't sounding very positive. But the window method, where you look out the window to see what the weather is doing, wasn't looking too bad. Some blue sky, even.

The parking area had three rigs with snowmo trailers. Two of those were from outside Valley County. But no one was around.

The snow had been pretty firm recently, so I briefly considered going without the slowshoes. Luckily, common sense got a hold of me because the snow was way funky and definitely not supportive.

Meanwhile, winter's icicles have turned into this cool plastic-looking stuff.

As we got around to the southern exposure, the snowshoes finally came off. As we started up the rock I was thinking about maybe doing an explore. Then I looked up and there was Ruby, exploring. Follow your Ruby!

C'mon, Dad, keep up!

But I called her back from this slimy-looking slab. Maybe if it was dry, but definitely not today.

Note: this photo doesn't show the drop to the left...maybe 100 feet?

So we dropped back down to the normal route. After some slurpy post-holing, we were nearing the top.

Summit.

The window method was working.

Looking across at Jigsaw and Little Lake.

In the sun, it was surprisingly warm. Ruby sez, "No problemo."

After years of saying I went on these outing for the dog, I realized I am going on these outing to take pictures of the dog for Dave. Trailhead

I win! I win! First tick of the season.

The sparkly silver background is the hood of my truck. Just after the photo session, I smashed the little bastard between two rocks. Very satisfying.
